Towing Jehovah; James Morrow; 1994

The central question of James Morrow's Towing Jehovah is "Why did god die?"  While, like in any good murder mystery, we are treated to an answer at the end by Father Thomas Ockham, the solution seems more a divinely inspired guess than the carefully constructed hypothesis I'd been led to expect from Morrow's detective.  Morrow tries to present us with many different views on the subject of God's death;  unfortunately, his own view doesn't seem to come through.  But his opinion is necessary, particularly given the subject; we don't want an unbiased reporter trying to please/appease (or offend) all, we want something to debate, argue with, or cling to.

Note: published on 4/29/2013, backdated to when I actually finished the book
