I forget how this ended up in the queue, much less how it got to the
top, but it was totally fun-to-watch tribute to 80's teen movies (esp.
John Hughes) crossed with doing for The Scarlet Letter what Clueless did for Emma. Lots of witty quips being traded, especially at home with her parents. Yay.

Grammar musings: good, goodly, well
I like walking Connor to school because it gives me time to think on the way home. These are not always useful thoughts. Today the How to Talk "All Fancy-Like" Basic Instructions popped into my head and how "I talk well" and "I am good at talking" have essentially the same meaning, but the latter uses the adjectival form of "good" and the former uses the adverbial form, but because it's irregular, it's "well" instead of "goodly", and became fully cognizant for the first time that my 7 year-old who says "I talk goodly" has a better (or sometimes "gooder" in 7y.o. parlance) command of English syntax than the adult who says "I talk good". But I never hear adults say "goodly", unless they are Pound aficionados, or at least not in this context, so are all the kids who say "goodly" quickly trained by the grammar police to say "well", or do some of them regress to "good"? Longitudinal study, please!

Farmer Deathwatch
My kids love Star Wars and Legos, and just had their birthdays, so naturally each is now in possession of a Mandalorian Battle Pack. And, because they're 4 and 7, the pieces are hopelessly mixed up with pieces of other sets. While sitting on the floor and looking through minifigures with them the other day, I noticed the distinctive Mandalorian helmet on a guy and immediately picked him up to play with, because the Mandalorians are inherently cool...
Then I noticed the body:
And in that moment, the legend of Farmer Deathwatch was born.

Traveling through hyperspace on a camel ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova, and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?
